Last year MACS partnered with Learning First to undertake a sector-wide survey on F-10 Victorian Curriculum delivery. We asked our MACS teachers and school leaders to share their experiences implementing and resourcing the Victorian Curriculum. The preliminary survey report revealed the following:
- A lack of time to cover the curriculum is a common shared concern amongst our educators.
- There is a strong need for comprehensive quality units of work; including sample instructional materials to support them to plan, teach and assess.
- Most respondents agreed that they are assessing and moderating student learning well at their school.
- Curriculum planning and lesson design are complex, and more support would be appreciated ‘The biggest barrier is time to teach, revise and plan. The enablers are anything that helps save time and get in there and get started.’
MACS is committed to providing schools with better access to curriculum content in the future through the MACS 2030: Forming Lives to Enrich the World strategic plan.
We look forward to sharing further insights when the full report is released.
